Art Hotel in Gujo Hachiman.
Shadows cast by lattice doors, shifting with the time of day, recall the refined sensibilities of another era.
A breeze flows from the garden through earthen-floor corridors, carrying the sound of water trickling into a stone basin. Here, where the past mingles with the present, one can encounter the art, culture, picturesque scenery, and cheerful townspeople of Gujo Hachiman.
Kinori occupies a renovated machiya townhouse built over a hundred years ago, and draws both from traditions of the past and innovations of the present. Looking out onto the narrow street, one can imagine when this area was once the pleasure quarters of the old castle town, while the interior is adorned with works of some of the region's finest contemporary artists.
Miscellaneous hand-made goods and crafts, curated by the architecture studio DEN-DEN, are on display, as well as original works made in collaboration with local artisans. Please feel free to drop by if you are looking for a gift or souvenir to remember your visit to Gujo-Hachiman.
